Lullaby chalkboard paint review

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Lullaby paints to see if I was interested in a review* of their chalkboard paint, it seemed like it was meant to be!

Backstory: A few months before that I had painted one of my sewing room's doors with magnetic paint. And it turned out to be a complete disaster! Ok, maybe not a disaster, but definitely not strong enough to be used as a magnetic board to hold magnets for an inspiration wall/door (my original plan). So for months, I avoided the inevitable, I needed to sand that door and figure something different. Well, that is not a problem anymore: here is my chalkboard door!

One of the things I loved the most about the paint is that all of their paints are baby safe, something I wish I had researched before painting Conner's nursery. My original plan was to have a chalkboard wall there, but changed my mind later, maybe for baby number 2 =]

The Lullaby chalkboard paint kit comes with everything you'll need to tackle your project: a roller, tray, chalk, edging tape and a little instruction manual. In my case the door was completely removed since I had to sand the door due to my previous bad experience with magnetic paint. Ken helped me with the hard part and I took it to my deck and sand away, I gave the first coat outside and then the next day (you have to wait at least 6 hours for the next coat) for the second coat.

I loved the way it looks, the green was perfect for the sewing room of my studio, and to showcase the chalk I decided to add on of my latest favorite quotes from Winnie the Pooh:

“You are braver than you believe,
stronger than you seem,
and smarter than you think”
– Christopher Robin

I sketched the quote on paper first while my new intern played around on the office. I am going to make this a print too, so stay tuned, I will listed on my shop once it's done.

I loved the paint and the fact I didn't need to buy any other tools or supplies to paint the door was awesome, it covered very well and I got a little bit left over that I plan on using it on a panel of my studio's front door, so that once Conner is older enough he can play there instead of MY door 😉

Conner loved to watch me play with the door and kept asking for me to give him the chalk, but he'll have to wait a little longer for me to feel comfortable giving him chalk (and knowing he will not eat it)!

So excited to cross one more thing on my office to-do list, we are getting closer to full the reveal!! YAY =] for now here you all got another “wall” sneak peek.
I hope you all have a lovely day!
XOXO

* I was given a chalkboard paint kit to review as a compensation for this post, all opinions are my own. I only review products I love and that I know you, my readers will love too. Please read my diclosure page for further information, Thank you!

I’ve wanted to paint Bible verse signs for around the house for a while now but finally realized its a bit ambitious for me with the tools/skills I have. I picked up a few little, cheap chalkboards at Walmart for under a $1 because all your posts have inspired me…and then I can change out the verses and sayings as I need. My 18 month old daughter saw me using the chalkboard and really wanted to try it (she’s just getting into coloring–with a lot of supervision). She loved using the chalk and barely damp sponge to remove it. Maybe Conner will be ready soon too 😀
