I am not going to lie, ever since I was in college I dreamed about having a car with an awesome logo all over, like big-in-your-face decal. And of course not any logo, the logo of the business I was going to build.

The first car I had in the USA was a Jeep Wrangler, when we bought it I though about adding something to it, but then I got too busy to do anything to the car. After Conner arrived the Jeep was no longer functional so we decided to start researching for something that would fit our new passenger better.

We welcomed my new car 4 months ago and since it is my first brand new car, I immediately thought about researching a way to add my branding to it. I was super lucky to be contacted by the people from Dezign with a Z the day after I started researching (talk about good timing) to work on a review of their decals, I explained my idea and they loved to collaborate and create a custom decal for my car!

As a small business owner, I think is very important to take any opportunity to advertise your company, so adding my new shop's URL (soon to be launched) to my car was the best “local” advertisement I could think of. The color of my car is already bold and bright, so I decided on a contrasting color, with the lines of my logo expanding to the edges of the car.

The design process was super easy because I already had the logo, I took pictures of the sides of the car and played on illustrator with different sizes and positioning. After I showed them to Ken, we both loved the same one. I measured the car and sized the image with the logo to the “real” measurements, erased the image and exported the artwork as a .PDF so the designer at Dezign with a Z could work it to send me a proof.

I received the decals super fast, they include a squeegee and instructions for application. I had to wait until Ken was home so he could help me apply it – they also recommend to work with a friend in their instructions ;) – I was so excited to see the decals on the car that probably squealed on and off during the time we were applying it.

The application of the first side was not as smooth as I envisioned, the curves of the car made got in the way because we started with one side and worked our way to the other, the small lines in my logo made the application as we started very challenging and the H in the center ended up having some huge bubbles.

For the second side, we had learned our lesson and I cut the backing of the decal on the center and we applied starting with the most problematic part of my logo and then we worked our way to the sides, this was *WAY* easier and there were no bubbles or broken pieces. That side of the car is PERFECT! So if you plan on doing something similar, start on the center!! I learned the hard way =[

I absolutely LOVE the way my car looks now, it's bold, colorful, JOYful! I call it “el narajo” my dear sporty-mommy car and HowJoyfulmobile ;) I have been driving it for a while now and I love how people kind of stare at it, I've seen people pulling their pen and paper to write down the URL and that feels great!

I'm super happy with how smooth the process was and loved working with the people from Dezign with a Z, so if branding your car is also in the back of your mind I encourage you to check them out. They also offer wall decals for any room you can imagine and you can create your own or select from their library.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

    WHOO!! This looks amazing!
I was SO keen to get my logo on my car when my friend and I started a design biz so I TOTALLY get you! :)
We don’t have that biz anymore so it was probably for the best. ;)

    Great post. :)

How awesome! We have a local place that does these kinds of decals and wraps. They are really neat. One restaurant’s company vehicle has a wrap/decal of burgers and fries and other food they serve and stuff. It looks pretty cool and you know when you see it that it is Pierre’s central restaurant.

I always wanted a wrap, but that’s kind of too much for me because I didn’t really wanted “products” on my car, but the food idea it super eye catching! I bet they get a lot of business out of those wraps!

What a fun idea. Thanks for the tips on applying it, too.

I’ve always said I would get one of these when my sons start to drive. It will say, “If I’m driving like a jerk, call my mom at xxx-xxx-xxxx.”

I had been wanting to do something like this since I starting branding my artwork online… but I didn’t have a car until mid 2013. This may be on my to-do list this year – it looks so great on your car.

Also, you pretty much have my dream car… a hatchback AND it’s orange!! >envious<

LOVE IT! I have this same car in the same color. It’s my second Subie – getting this one only because my old one had a run in with a deer, and lost :(
I hope you love it as much as I do. The branding looks awesome! Very clean and works so well with the XV.
