3 tips to help you make a movie with kids (stop motion)

All of you guys know that I love letters, so creating a stop motion with Goldfish Crackers had me SO excited, well actually, not as excited as my boys were when I told them we were going to make a movie and play with my phone.

The reason why they were so extremely excited is that Goldfish crackers are their favorite snack ever! (and pretty much everyone else in this family) and they also are always down for an opportunity to play with my phone hehe.

So, when the opportunity for this post came it was a no-brainer!

As a work-from-home mom, I am blessed to be able to stop work and just play with my boys whenever they (or I need it), but things are often so busy that making time to just enjoy and creating memories is not easy as easy. That's why I love to set a project that we can all do together.

Creating this stop-motion movie was the perfect excuse for all of us to sit, snack and create memories together. (You can check out our movie below!) And Check out GoldlfishSmiles.com for more ideas on how to create these memories with your family.

Make a movie kids

While creating this movie we thought about 3 things that can help YOU make movies and memories with your little ones!

  1. Pick a theme they love: my boys are crazy over anything that has to do with space and rockets, so creating a story about a trip to the moon and aliens had them so excited.
  2. Let them figure the story: Conner loves aliens, so when he saw the green Goldfish in the color pack, he asked me right away to make alien hats for them, and we let their imagination run wild.
  3. Record the sound while they play: We figured that it would be perfect to just record their playing and then use that same audio to tell the story, granted, it was super simple, but I love how their little imagination came to shape the story.

This was such a fun activity and all our boys were so proud and excited after they saw the movie we created, now they keep asking me to make more. So now finally is time for you guys to see it! All narrated by our 5-year-old little Conner, and animated by me with the help of all 3 boys! (Ps. can you guys believe our youngest is 1 year old already, and our middle one is 2 years old!? crazy!!)

You can check out our stop-motion family video above and make sure to check GoldfishSmiles.com to watch more Goldfish tales and learn how to make your own with your family.

I hope this inspires you to create your own Goldfish stop motion and experiment, play and create memories with your little one/s! If you want to see more lovely tales head over to the  We ❤ #GoldfishTales page and check all the other stories.
